Phu Phong dam project was commenced on February 15, 2022. As of date, the JV Contractor for Package 01-XL, led by Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (HOSE: C47), has completed important work items of the project, reached over 80% of the project workload, specifically: Completed the gated spillway; Labyrinth free-overflow spillway; Stilling pond retaining wall; Upstream wing wall; Consolidated the gated spillway yard, concreted Labyrinth spillway downstream; Supported the bracing frame of Labyrinth spillway downstream, Backfilling Dam body, etc.
Phu Phong Dam is a key irrigation project of Binh Dinh province, the Employer is Binh Dinh Agricultural and Rural Development PMB, built in Tay Son district, Binh Dinh province. Immediately after the groundbreaking ceremony, C47 focused on labors, arranged construction equipment suitable for many types of specialized, modern equipment, organized effective construction, thereby speeding up the construction progress, with the excavation and filling volume of more than 551,971 m3 of soil and rock, 98,205 m3 of concrete and 2,234 tons of steel in all types.
According to Mr. Tran Dang Khoa – Site Manager of Phu Phong Dam Project, the Central provinces have just encountered 2023 flood season, with construction works on the river, so somewhat affected the project schedule, but under the strong direction of the C47’s BOD and Management Board, along with the determination and high concentration of the staff, workers and employees on the construction site, the project has been overcome the flood condition safely. Currently, the construction site is arranged with many construction teams, focusing on speeding up the progress of following items: Valve System, Bridge Deck, Earth filling for Left abutment, Construction of downstream wing walls, Consolidation of upstream slope for Dam Left abutment and completion of the project.
Phu Phong Dam project totaling more than VND754 billion, of which the budget from the Central is VND550 billion, the rest is from the local budget. Package 01-XL has scope of works included: Dam on river by R.C, total length of dam in horizontal is 590.50m, totaled 20 gated cells, each cell is 15m wide, flat steel gates operated by winches; Intake on right dam abutment, with gates opened and closed by electric screw machines; Traffic bridge on Dam with gross width of B=10m including 30 spans, main beam made of prestressed R.C, total bridge length of 590.50m; Main irrigation canal with total length of 7,082.6m; Dam H&M equipment; Rainstorm water collection and drainage pipeline; Power Supply System for Operation and Management; Bank and downstream protection dykies, etc.
Besides of the task of ensuring stable water supply and irrigation for 450 hectares of agricultural and industrial land, serving the needs of daily life, aquaculture, and improving the ecological environment in the region, Phu Phong Dam project also connecting the traffic on both Kon River banks from NR19 to NR19B then to Phu Cat Airport and connecting Tay Son district center with the district northern communes and the western communes of Phu Cat district, creating favorable conditions for trade and contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development. At the same time, the project also undertakes task of regulating the air, creating a source of underground water for the region and contributing to the National Goals Program on the new rural construction, developing the local economy in a sustainable manner.
