The Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project is a national key project approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 389/QD-TTg dated April 10, 2018. The investor is the Vietnam Electricity (EVN), represented by the Power Project Management Board No.1. As one of the core members of the Package 1XL-HB consortium, CC47 is responsible for multiple large-scale and technically complex underground works, notably including:
- A headrace tunnel through the mountain with a diameter of nearly 11 meters, evaluated as the largest in Vietnam to date;
- Auxiliary tunnels, drainage tunnels, and vertical shafts ensuring water flow circulation and stable turbine operation;
- Construction items implemented under highly complex geological conditions, requiring advanced technical expertise and rapid progress.
The rotors of Unit No.1 and Unit No.2 of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion weigh about 585 tons each and constitute the rotating part of the generator. To ensure the project’s planned progress, all stages of stator and rotor assembly for both units, as well as turbine installation, have been carefully calculated and inspected by the investor, the supervision consultant, and the installation contractor throughout the entire process.
CC47’s ahead-of-schedule completion of many critical components has laid a solid foundation for EVN and the contractor consortium to successfully install the rotor of Unit No.2 as planned, contributing to the overall project progress reaching over 90%.
Previously, Unit No.1 of the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion successfully generated and connected to the national grid at 4:27 AM on August 19, 2025, marking the initial success of the operation phase.
The completion of rotor installation for Unit No.2 sets the stage for subsequent electromechanical installation works, paving the way for testing and commissioning, with the goal of putting Unit No.2 into power generation in November 2025 and completing the entire Hoa Binh Hydropower Expansion Project within 2025 — a meaningful milestone in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

This achievement not only reflects the close coordination among EVN, the Power Project Management Board No.1, and the contractor consortium but also serves as a clear testament to the capability, determination, and reputation of CC47.
Carrying the mission of “Providing high-quality, safe, and world-class construction solutions – accompanying customers, communities, and society”, the CC47 team continues to innovate and strive toward the vision of becoming one of Asia’s leading construction enterprises, creating sustainable and reputable works reaching international stature.
