On the morning of August 19, 2025, in Tri An commune, Dong Nai province, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) together with Power Project Management Board 3 solemnly held the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Tri An Hydropower Plant Expansion Project – one of the key highlights in the chain of 250 projects celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Mr. Pham Nam Phong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (CC47) directly attended together with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Ms. Phan Thi Thang – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Mr. Vo Tan Duc – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province; Mr. Cao Quang Quynh – Member of EVN’s Member Council; Mr. Pham Hong Phuong – Deputy General Director of EVN. The ceremony also welcomed the presence of leaders from central ministries and sectors; provincial departments and authorities of Dong Nai; representatives of EVN; representatives of PPMB3; the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam; representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW); and the consortium of contractors and construction units.

The project has a total investment capital of over VND 3,900 billion, including 2 generating units with a total capacity of 200 MW, expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027. Once operational, the Tri An Hydropower Expansion Plant will increase the power supply capacity for the South, reduce CO₂ emissions, extend the lifespan of existing equipment, and enhance the efficiency of the national power system.
This is one of 8 major projects in Dong Nai province being implemented in this phase with a total investment of over VND 50 trillion, and also a key site broadcast live from 9:00 to 11:00 on August 19, 2025, on VTV.

The groundbreaking of the Tri An Hydropower Expansion Plant not only marks an important step in national energy development but is also a remarkable highlight of CC47 within this nationwide historic event.

According to the contract package XL04-TAMR valued at more than VND 1,451 billion, the main scope of work includes: Intake canal, Intake gate, Penstock, Hydropower plant; Discharge canal, Connection of the plant to the existing power system, and auxiliary works for construction… CC47 directly undertakes an important construction workload worth VND 233 billion. These are all categories requiring high technical expertise and extensive practical experience, thereby reaffirming CC47’s capacity, reputation, and position as a key contractor in hydropower construction for nearly half a century.
The presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the ceremony not only demonstrates CC47’s commitment to accompanying EVN and partners in this vital project but also affirms the Company’s aspiration for “Breakthrough Transformation – Reaching International Heights”. This is an important step on the journey towards the 50th Anniversary of CC47, resonating with the spirit of the nation’s 80th Anniversary, ready to conquer projects of regional and global significance.
