On the morning of December 19, 2025, as part of a nationwide series of events organized by the Government to commence, inaugurate, and technically open major projects in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, An Giang Province coordinated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Duong Dong 2 Water Reservoir Investment Project in the Phu Quoc Special Zone. The event was held concurrently with several other major projects, including the Urban Railway Line No.1, the Ham Ninh Resettlement Area Project, and the Cua Can Resettlement Area Project. These four key projects demonstrate the strong commitment of the Government and local authorities in thorough preparation toward the important international event APEC 2027.
The ceremony was honored to welcome Mr. Nguyen Van Thang – Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Ho Van Mung – Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee, together with representatives of provincial departments, agencies, investors, contractors, consultants, and relevant organizations.

The Duong Dong 2 Water Reservoir Investment Project covers an area of approximately 96.5 hectares, with a total investment of nearly VND 2,950 billion. The project aims to ensure long-term water security for domestic use, tourism, and production in the Phu Quoc Special Zone, while meeting stable water supply demand during the dry season and peak tourism periods. Upon completion, the reservoir is planned to have a storage capacity of approximately 4.7 million m³ and a water supply capacity of about 36,500 m³ per day, forming a solid foundation for sustainable socio-economic development of the special zone in the future.

The investment in the construction of the Duong Dong 2 Water Reservoir is identified as one of the essential infrastructure projects serving APEC 2027, contributing to balancing water supply and demand across the entire water supply system, reducing pressure on existing facilities, and ensuring long-term water resources for residents, visitors, and key economic activities in Phu Quoc. The project not only fulfills immediate political tasks in preparation for APEC 2027 but also serves as a driving force for sustainable development of water resource infrastructure in the Phu Quoc Special Zone.

CC47’s participation from the initial stage reflects its aspiration to accompany strategic projects, continuously maximizing its capabilities in executing large-scale and technically complex infrastructure works, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This affirms that CC47’s role is not limited to hydropower and irrigation construction, but is also expanding its presence in multi-sector, multi-scale projects, contributing to the realization of the country’s overall development objectives.
